Selling your home during the holidays
The fall and winter seasons offer a wonderful backdrop for selling your house, especially if you put forth the effort to make it look special. Buyers looking at this time of year are almost always very serious and more likely to make a move. While most of us begin to focus and get distracted with the holiday season, these buyers usually have a reason to move and are on a time budget.
Buyers form an opinion on your home within the first few minutes of seeing it, so creating that emotional connection from the start is important. Use this season to showcase how lovely it could be to celebrate the holidays in your home.
If you’re lucky enough to have beautiful Fall foliage and stand-out trees in your yard, then play it up. Talk to your agent about the best ways to do this, but be sure to take high definition photos. Marketing is key, you want to show off to as many people as possible.
Less is more. Don’t over decorate! Play to the strengths and style of your home.
Festive touches, tasteful and with an eye towards what’s in style are your best choices. Knowing your audience is important. Who’s most likely going to buy your home? A young 30-something family with kids? An older couple looking to downsize?
Light the fires in the fireplaces and turn on the twinkle lights. This is your chance to stand out, both with presentation and price. Make your house magical during the holidays and you might find your buyer very quickly.
